Jess Snedeker promoted to Full Professor
Jess Snedeker has been promoted to Full Professor of Orthopaedic Biomechanics as of 1 April 2022. Jess has been an associate professor in the same field at the University of Zurich since 2011, also as a dual professor with ETH Zurich where he is an integral part of the Institute for Biomechanics at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology.
Jess Snedeker's research focuses on three primary research areas: mechanical/biological based understanding of tendon disease and healing; micro-mechanical cell-biomaterial interactions and their implications for therapeutic success; and clinical biomechanics for improving existing orthopedic implant design and for the development of novel implants.
The Laboratory for Orthopaedic Biomechanics, which is headed by Jess Snedeker, is embedded within the University Hospital Balgrist, where he also acts as Vice Chair of the Department of Orthopaedics and the Director of Research. The Laboratory has successfully addressed clinical orthopedic questions related to the shoulder, ankle, hand, and knee through in-house collaborative work with world leading orthopedic surgeons. Resulting innovations and licensed intellectual property are being actively translated to the clinic in the form of medical devices commercialized by both large industry and spin-off companies.
