Congratulations to Prof. Tristan März for having been appointed as Associate Professor of Musculoskeletal Bioengineering in the Department of Health Sciences and Technology. He will start 1 July 2025.

Congratulations to Francisco Correia Marques, a doctoral candidate at the Institute for Biomechanics, who was awarded with an ISBM 2024 Top Abstract Award from the International Society of Bone Morphometry for his abstract entitled “Multiscale mechanoregulation analysis using super-resolution spatial transcriptomics data and multimodal imaging”.

Congratulations to Francisco Correia Marques, a doctoral candidate at the Institute for Biomechanics, who was awarded yesterday with the 2024 ESB Travel Award from the European Society of Biomechanics for his abstract “Spatial µProbe: unveilin multiscale mechanoregulatio in bone fracture healing through correlative imaging”.

We report the use of biodegradable void-forming hydrogels to generate long-term stable 3D human bone cell networks on a microfluidic chip.

Congratulations to Bregje de Wildt, a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Biomechanics, for winning the NBTE Best Thesis Award from the Dutch Society for Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials (NBTE).

We are delighted to announce that Dr Reto Togni and Stefan Villiger have been awarded a Pioneer fellowship for the development of their “Steering-by-Leaning” wheelchair design. Congratulations to Julia Griesbach, a doctoral candidate at the Institute for Biomechanics, who was selected for an ASBMR 2023 Young Investigator Travel Grant for her abstract “Effects combining mechanical loading with sclerostin antibody, parathyroid hormone, or bisphosphonate treatment on mechanoregulation in trabecular bone in mice”. The Travel Grants are given to the top Young Investigator members presenting at the ASBMR 2023 Annual Meeting.

Congratulations to Dilara Yilmaz, a doctoral candidate at the Institute for Biomechanics, who was selected for an ASBMR 2023 Young Investigator Travel Grant for her abstract “Prematurely Aging PolgA Mice Exhibit Sex-specific Hallmarks of Musculoskeletal Aging”. The Travel Grants are given top Young Investigator members who will be presenting at the ASBMR 2023 Annual Meeting and include a $750 contribution to support travel to the meeting in Vancouver this October.
